GSC’s Skillsmender

When I arrived I realised that I was the first person here. We were an hour early and my dad started talking about a billion different things. For example, he started talking about the meaning of my name and about how I spend too much time on video games. Then the owner of this program gave me a pep talk on how I should play less video games and how I should spend more time thinking about my future ;-;.

After the talk I met my group members. But since all of them had yet to come, we just played games on our computer. After, we had to introduce each-other. Finally, we started to build our mBot which was not much of a challenge. We played around with them and then finally we had lunch.

I was starving and I didn’t think I would eat anything until I would arrive home however I was told that we would be given refreshments. The choices were chips, a fruit, a muffin, and juice. Finally, we raced them. I came in 1^st the first time I raced however lost all the other time. And even got disqualified once. Finally at 4:00 pm we were dismissed.

Arin’s Blog Day 2

I was a little late today because I got lost but no I definitely know my way atp. We started off by having a (very unnecessary) conversation about how we should respect each other and keep each other’s boundaries unharmed and stuff and stuff like that. That conversation lasted like 20 mins. After that we had to write a blog about our first day (yesterday) and that didn’t take Too long but long enough. Finally, we started practising block codes on our robot. For example, we had to make the robot play a happy birth day song ( Which I did without looking at the guide on the board), we had to make the robot light up, and we even had to make the robot move in a circle and a square. After that we had lunch. They gave us the usual choice of fruit, drinks, a muffin, and chips. After lunch we played football with the robots. It was more like the robots crawling all over each other but it was still very funny and fun 😀 I scored a total of 2 goals. We lost most of the games but it didn’t really matter. That lasted until the end of the day. I played a little candy crush until I was allowed to go home. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to go home alone. I had to be “Guided” by one of the people who work here because my dad doesn’t trust me to be on my own ;-; Overall it was a great day.

Arin’s Blog Day 3

I was the second person to arrive today. I didn’t get lost on my way at all. I signed in and when straight to my computer and started playing a little while we waited for everyone else to arrive. As soon as everyone arrived, we started coding our robot to do various such things such as making our robot follow a specific line or making it dance (Which was really just the robot going back and fourth and turning and stuff and playing a song ) Which was pretty cool. After, we had lunch. Thomas gave me a bag of chips because he did not like that specific flavour (I think). Then from that point to the end we raced our mbots. Things went wrong almost every single time which was hilarious (Unless I was actually part of the race). I raced twice. I lost the first race against Thomas because he was really good at controlling the thing. however I was winning at first but then went like 3 inches behind him. So I was put in the looser division. Everyone in the looser division had a race and I won! So then finally there was a winners division for all the winners of the looser and all the winners of the originals. I was put in there. AND I WON. Even though Adeboye thought that I cheated. And he was backed up by his brother. but then Eddie (The nicest teacher in the world) checked CCTV and then announced to the class that I had actually won. So yea that day was pretty good. I left and decided to take the 98 home instead of the 206. I got home faster :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Arin’s Blog day 4

Yesterday I was the first to arrive so I signed my name and went straight to playing Geometry dash :D. After everyone arrived, we went straight to coding the robot. I had to connect my robot to an app. I made it so that every time a certain button was pressed, a different movement would occur. I dont really have much to tell because I was sent out a lot lmao xD.
